Everything You Need to Know About Succulents for Your Wedding

Discover, manage, and track all of your vendor communication, contracts, and timelines in one place.
When it comes to choosing your wedding flowers, there's a lot to learn.
This week's plant is the succulent.
Plant name: Succulent (Scientific Name: Echeveria)
Season: Year-round
Colors available: Varying shades of green with purple or white coloring.
Care: Succulents are drought-resistant, but they do better with water and fertilization. The fleshy leaves of the succulent are extremely fragile, so use caution when moving a succulent from its original vessel into a centerpiece or favor container
Fun fact: Although we most commonly call this plant a succulent, the term actually refers to any plant that retains a lot of water to survive in arid climates. Not to be confused with the cactus (although it has similar characteristics), the echeveria is the green ornamental garden plant used in bouquets and centerpieces.
Average wholesale cost: $1-6 a plant, depending on the size and quantity purchased.
Why we love: Succulents are rustic and organic looking. Perfect for a wedding on a ranch or a vintage desert wedding, these plants make a huge impact on a small budget. The best part? Unlike traditional flowers, they live for a long time after the celebration.
