5 Reasons to Rock a Tattoo Engagement Ring (Like Kylie Jenner Might)

The Save to Loverly button makes it easy to save your dream wedding inspiration and vendors to your planning dashboard.
Alternative engagement rings are all the rage these days, from ladies opting for stones that aren't diamonds to women choosing one statement stunner in lieu of both a rock and a wedding band. But some couples choose to forgo rings all together and wear something, well, a bit more permanent. Yes, we're talking about tattoos.
In fact, this trend was recently brought into the forefront by Tyga, who reportedly wants to propose to his main squeeze Kylie Jenner, and would love for her to sport some ring ink. While there's no word on whether or not she'll say "I do" to a tattoo, the news inspired us to consider this interesting ring alternative.

Here are five reasons why getting ink over bling could be a good idea. 1. You'd never lose it. With this ring, you'll never worry about setting it down somewhere (and totally forgetting where), or traveling with it. You won't need to insure it, either! 2. There's little maintenance. When you have a traditional ring, you usually need to get it steam-cleaned now and then to make sure it maintains its luster, as well as have the setting and stones checked periodically. With ink, you can usually get it and forget it! 3. It's budget-friendly. Unless you're getting something seriously elaborate, chances are that a ring tat will cost significantly less than a diamond ring. And, even then, the space on your finger is so small that even the most skilled tattoo artist would likely charge less than a jeweler would for some traditional bling. 4. You can really customize it. While today you can tailor your ring to match your style or personality, with a tattoo you have even more freedom. You can choose colors, lettering, and symbols that really speak to you. You could even draw out the design yourself! 5. You can wear it along with a traditional ring, if you choose. Perhaps the coolest part about a tattoo ring is that you can have the best of both worlds: the bling and the ink. You can rock an engagement ring and go for a tattoo wedding band. Or, you could mark a special anniversary by both of you getting inked. The possibilities are endless! What do you think, Loverlies? Would you get inked?
