7 Really Good Reasons to Pop Some Bottles After Getting Engaged

Exclusive access to expert wedding planning advice and resources from top industry professionals.
Whether you just said yes over the holidays or you're eagerly anticipating your bae asking the big question, you'll have plenty to celebrate once you get engaged. And if you ask us, what better way to revel in some of life's most celebratory occasions than with a fizzy, frothy, fruity glass of bubbly in hand? When we think about the best parts of getting engaged and planning a wedding, we can't believe how many moments are pretty much made for popping bottles—from the very second the question is popped to the manic morning before exchanging those vows—and not just any bottles.
Anna De Codorniu practically wrote the book on engagement-worthy cava (a Spanish sparkling wine), offering beautiful pastel and personalized bottles and crisp and flirty flavor profiles. And with a little help from Anna, we've rounded up seven of the best reasons nearlyweds should always have some sparkling wine chilling in the fridge:
1.  A sweet night in with your forever Valentine.
Once you've decided on forever with your fiancé, holidays don't have to be a huge deal, especially when your wallet will be feeling the effects of planning expenses in no time at all. Instead of going all out for V Day with a fancy dinner, theater tickets, and big-ticket gifts (hey, you did just get that sparkling new piece of jewelry on your finger, after all!), plan a romantic night in. Turn on your favorite rom-com, ready-up the rosé, and get comfy for a serious snuggle fest.
2.  An "I do" how-to crash course with your girls.
The second you get engaged, your phone will undoubtedly be blowing up with messages from your besties who are dying to hear the proposal story and eager to know what's next up on your soon-to-be-Mrs. tour. To tackle all of their questions at once, and have some fun getting into the planning process, invite all of your girls over for #thirstythursday and split a few bottles of the good stuff (and remember rock candy stirrers never hurt anyone...). Ask each to bring a bridal book or magazine and brush up on those aisle style tips and other DIY-worthy tricks.
3.  Brunch with your #bridetribe.
When it's time to pop the question to your posse, you want it to be perfect, and by all means it should be! Asking your squad to stand by your side on the big day has become a total rite of passage for brides, and it helps to have some wine or champs on call for the occasion. Plan a morning out or in with your favorite people and make it special with cute cards and equally adorable bottles of bubbly. You can even write out your "Will you be my..." wishes on the bottle itself as a sweet take away for your BFFs to enjoy at another time. Anna's signature all-white write-on bottles are so on point!
4.  The first stressful wedding budget conversation.
Budget discussions have a very real way of putting a damper on your just-engaged afterglow, but it's important not to get discouraged when it's time to put on your big girl and guy 'planning pants' and get to work on #adultinghard. To make the conversations a little lighter, make a night of it. Get out the calculator, the budget-busting worksheets and highlighted sections of your wedding book that mention how to prioritize your funds, and pop a bottle to calm both of your nerves. Fights are clearly off the table with totally-topped-off flutes of sparkling wine.
5.  A mixology date night with your signature cocktail co-creator.
Sure, as soon as you get engaged you'll be dreaming about that open bar... but what better way to put a special stamp on your wedding day than offering a signature drink that's equal parts you and your love. Sparkling wine can certainly stand on its own, but we love the idea of mixing up an effervescent elixir that'll have all of your guests gushing. Arrange another night in with your fiancé and play bartender for a few hours. Chill up a few varieties - like Anna Blanc De Blancs, Dulce Anna, and Rosé - and pair what you've poured with some fresh fruits. From turned-up tequila sunrises to cranberry-lime spritzers, you really can't go wrong with something sparkling.
6.  Getting ready with the girls the morning of.
Every bride has her bout with nerves the morning before she says "I do." So, it's up to the MOH and band of bridesmaids to mellow her out and make sure the day gets off on the right foot (seriously, no cold feet allowed!). Whether it's a morning mimosa or a baller bellini, making sure the bride-to-be can relax and ready herself for the best. day. ever. is top priority. Pre-requisites: robes, slippers, a killer Spotify station, and lots of liquid courage.
7.  Serving up sips during cocktail hour.
Your guests already know they'll be toasting you during the reception, but that doesn't mean the bubbles can't be flowing from the time they arrive at cocktail hour. Because, let's be honest, a wedding without its share of sparkles (from the dress, to the jewels, to the wine) is no wedding we've ever witnessed! Do it up right by having your servers traverse the room with vintage trays stacked with flutes or even bespoke mirrors that provide a perfect pedestal for the delicate drinks.
Cheers, nearlyweds. Now stock up on those bottles, stat!
